Joe Fontana, Program Manager, Co-Founder

Joe Fontana presently teaches in Ft. Collins, Colrado. Joe has extensive international and travel experience. For seven years, he led over 210 students on trips to Washington, D.C., He led a one month student trip to Japan and visited Japan for a month on a Fulbright Teachers’ Fellowship.

Joe organized and led Walk for Education, a 60 mile walk from Loveland to Denver, which brought the issue of educational funding to the front pages of national media. Over 1,000 students and concerned citizens marched. Joe co-founded and co-organized the Global Youth Environmental Summit of 1993 and 1995.

For 16 years, he has taught Geography, History, and Leadership Classes at both Thompson Valley High School in Loveland, Colorado and Menlo-Atherton High School. In 1993, he won the Colorado's Governor's Excellence In Education Award and in 1998, he won Thompson Valley High School Teacher of the Year.

Joe Fontana holds a B.A. in Social Sciences from Colorado State University. He currently teaches geography, Student Leadership, and is head baseball coach at Menlo-Atherton High School outside of San Francisco, California.
