  • Global Visionaries' programs offers high school students, young adults, and adults leadership training, a cultural immersion trip to Guatemala, and local and international service projects focused on social justice and environmental conservation. GV participants learn how to become leaders in their local and the global community.

    Seattle Leadership Program & Guatemala Trip

    Dates:

    The Leadership Training Program educates and trains students in cross-cultural understanding, fundraising, and social action. This is a year-long program and includes leadership training, cultural immersion trip to Guatemala, and local and international service projects focused on social and environmental justice.

    Seattle Intensive Leadership Program & Guatemala Trip

    The Intensive Leadership Training Program educates and trains students in cross-cultural understanding, fundraising, and social action. This 17 day program and includes a 3 day pre-trip workshop and leadership training, and a 14 day cultural immersion trip to Guatemala and international service projects focused on social and environmental justice.

    Intensive Allies Program & Guatemala Trip

    The focus of this program is deepening our awareness and understanding of social justice issues impacting our communities locally and globally. We will be exploring our privilege as US citizen and really strategizing the best way to work as allies. The Allies Program will provide the same rich 3 day workshop and two week experience in Guatemala as the Intensive Program. Participants will have the opportunity to stay with a homestay family, rotate through our various work teams, and engage in one on one Spanish lessons.

    Other Programs:

    Youth Board. Youth Board is the continuation for participants who have completed the first year Leadership Program or Intensive Program. They become leaders in running the organization and facilitating the first year program.

    In their first year, GV youth gain an awareness of issues relating to social and environmental justice. During subsequent years advanced programming, they dive deeper into these issues, gaining leadership, community engagement, advocacy, public speaking, critical thinking, teaching, and many other important life and career skills. Youth Board (YB) members have the opportunity to become social entrepreneurs, to express their points of view to the public through digital media and other creative outlets, and to create positive futures for themselves and their community.

    GAP Year / Long Term Volunteer Program. This two-year program is for students who wish to broaden their involvement with the GV community, both in Seattle and Guatemala. Students spend their senior year learning about GV from the inside, participating in development, and planning projects for the upcoming year in Guatemala. They spend the second year in Guatemala, in a variety of roles, assisting with the programs for first-year participants.

    Global Leadership Class. Global Leadership is an innovative approach to high school social studies that focuses on social and environmental justice through service learning and hands-on leadership skill building. Students are introduced to global issues and are challenged to take action by making changes in their own lives, and in their communities, homes, and schools.

    Experience Guatemala - 9 Day All Ages Tour. The purpose of this trip is twofold. First, it is a personal journey to engage and explore the best that Guatemala and Guatemalans have to offer in a meaningful way with through travelling with a purpose, adventure, community building, and friendship building. The second is to become a partner in understanding the mission and positive impact that Global Visionaries and other non-profit organizations are making in Guatemala.

    San Francisco and Colorado Leadership Program. The Leadership Training Program educates and trains students in cross-cultural understanding, fundraising, and social action. This is a year-long program and includes leadership training, cultural immersion trip to Guatemala, and local and international service projects focused on social and environmental justice.
